Kate Monteith-Ross, founder, clinical director and lead nurse at La Ross Aesthetics in Kent
Tell us about you and your clinic…
I’m a nurse with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as a post-graduate diploma in education. I’m also working towards my Level 7 in Independent Supplementary Prescribing.
La Ross Aesthetics is based in Rochester, with 85% of our patients being women between the ages of 30 to 50. Through our team of multiple medical professionals, we offer all the usual dermal filler and anti-wrinkle injections, alongside regenerative treatments, fat dissolving, skin rejuvenation and GP services.
Alongside my clinic, I also run aesthetics training for medical professionals under Urban Training Academy with weekly mentoring opportunities and personalised programmes.
Can you describe your favourite treatment/product that you offer patients and why?
At the moment, my favourite treatments to offer are regenerative-based. We’ve seen a massive change in people becoming more aware of the longevity of dermal fillers and the fact that we age at multiple levels, so it’s important to address each plane.
Regenerative aesthetics is really exciting and can help with this. Whether I’m using polynucleotides, PRP or skinboosters like Neofound, my patients appreciate that these treatments are investing in their long-term skin quality rather than providing quick fixes.
What do you hope to learn and achieve in the next six months?
We’re moving into CQC territory, so our focus is that the clinic and team surpass all the requirements. We’ve invested in an ultrasound device to enhance our complication prevention and management strategies, so I’m looking forward to developing my skills further with this.
I’m also keen to develop our mentorship programme for medical students as they enter the word of aesthetics – it’s important that they have the best education and support possible.
Can you tell us about your proudest moment in your career?
I’m really proud of how I’ve developed my public speaking over the last two years. I’ve taken part in more conferences than ever before, as well as ‘train the trainer’ sessions, which have been amazing.
I’ve had the privilege of speaking alongside some incredible surgeons, nurses and doctors, as well as being part of some fantastic medical faculties to enhance knowledge across the aesthetics specialty.
If you weren’t an aesthetic practitioner, what would you be and why?
This is a hard question as I feel like I’m finally at a point where I’m able to bring all my career options together – I was a businesswoman first, then a teacher and am now a nurse. I’m very lucky that I can bring all these three attributes together in my very chaotic, yet fulfilled, work life, with a successful clinic and national training academy.
